Mari Seidler, M.S., C.M.T., owner of Thrive Sports Therapy in San Jose, CA, has over twelve years of experience as a Licensed/Certified Massage Therapist and Certified Active Release Techniques® (ART®) Provider. In her time as a therapist, she has taken the advanced/Level 2 ART® courses, as well as Complex Protocols, the Biomechanics Certification, Nerve courses, Selective Functional Movement Analysis (S.F.M.A.), Active Palpation, and the Master's Course in ART®. In addition, she is trained in Neural Reset Therapy (N.R.T.), a painless treatment that works with the nervous system to restore healthy tissue function and optimal muscle and tendon length.
For her undergraduate work, Mari double-majored in Biology and East Asian Studies at Williams College in Massachusetts and later obtained an M.S. degree in Applied Anatomy and Physiology from Boston University (1999). Mari started her career in biomedical research and later worked in the health and fitness field as a nationally certified personal trainer, group fitness instructor, and 200-hour Registered Yoga Teacher. Her interest in learning to treat soft tissue injuries increased after her husband suggested she become certified in ART®. They had traveled to several Ironman triathlon races where her husband had competed, and ART® had been provided during the week of the race and on the race day for the athletes. He had found the treatment extremely effective for helping muscles stay prepared for and recover from the race.
After graduating from the John Winslow Institute for Massage Therapy in Quincy, MA, in 2009, Mari worked as a Licensed Massage Therapist and Licensed ART® Provider in the Boston area. Mari has worked on many Ironman triathletes, marathon runners, and even Ultraman competitors and competitive football players, baseball players, golfers, dancers, tennis players, swimmers, and various other athletes. Once ART® certified, Mari volunteered her services providing ART® to the competitors at the 2010 and 2011 Lake Placid Ironman Races and at the 2013 Ironman Canada Race at Whistler. Mari's background in fitness and postural/gait assessment has also proved very helpful in solving possible problems with exercise performance or biomechanical issues contributing to her client's injuries. She is certified in Kinesiology Taping to help clients regain optimal and pain-free movement patterns.
Having lived most of her life in the Northeast, Mari now enjoys running for fitness in beautiful California and exploring the hiking trails around her neighborhood in the Santa Teresa area of south San Jose.
